Austin, Arkansas is a city located about 30 miles from Little Rock and just 5 miles from Cabot. It was first established in the 1870s, when the St. Louis, Iron Mountain, and Southern Railroad railroads built tracks near Old Austin (a mile away), which was one of the first settlements in central Arkansas. Many residents of this settlement moved to live near the railroad tracks and, in some cases, transported entire buildings.
Over time, the new city was renamed Austin. Austin is home to a variety of parks and recreational areas that offer something for everyone. Located on Austin Lakes Circle, it includes a 1,600-foot asphalt paved walking trail, two pavilions, a children's play structure, swings, and a picnic area. To reserve the pavilions, please contact Lynn Pennington.
